We arrived in Chongqing airport on Sunday afternoon, and were greeted by a welcoming party from CTBU. They were all so excited to see us and have us visiting them at their school. The students who came to meet us were so excited and honored to have us that they carried our bags to the bus that would be taking us to the University. CTBU is located on the other side of the city than the airport so we were able to have an understanding of how massive the city of Chongqing actually is; when we arrived at the university our partners were all waiting for us, as soon as the bus had stopped they all swarmed the bus like bees, attempting to find their partners. When we they located us they were even more excited than the students that were at the airport, they were jumping around and could not stop asking us about ourselves. They were so happy to be honored to have us as partners that they wanted to carry our luggage to our rooms that were on the 5th floor of the dormitory.
The next morning we had the opening ceremony for the CTBU Study & Culture tour, and during this program we learned of all of the different universities and countries that are participating in the program; University of Botswana, RMUT, Kings University College, HEC Montreal, Elgin Community College, University of Missouri, and University of Lincoln. After the ceremony we had a campus tour showing us all of the buildings that are important, having 24,000 students there was a lot of campus to see.
The following morning we had our first class to attend. This class was very informative class that explained the basic information about the city, such as Chongqing has over 31 million people living in it. After the course we had a tour of the city; on this tour we saw one of the most amazing things that I have seen—it was where the Yangtze and Jialing rivers meet in Chongqing. The Yangtze River is brown and the Jialing is blue and they meet and have a merging point. The city of Chongqing is so populated that we had to head back to campus because the traffic was going to be so bad that it would take us over an hour to go on a 10 minute drive.
